Radium Engineering FHST R8 Huracan Fuel Hanger Surge Tank
If you're looking to maximize your Lamborghini Gallardo LP's performance, the Radium Engineering Fuel Hanger Surge Tank (FHST) is here to help. This drop-in aftermarket fuel pump solution is designed to work seamlessly with your vehicle, ensuring you get the most out of your engine without disrupting the OEM fuel system.
Compatibility and Requirements
Before you get started, it's essential to note that the FHST requires a single aftermarket fuel pump, which is sold separately. Here are some compatible fuel pumps that have been verified to work with the FHST:
- Walbro F90000267
- Walbro F90000274
- Walbro F90000285
- Walbro F90000295
- Walbro GSS342
- AEM 50-1200
- Bosch BR540
- Deatschwerks DW400
- Deatschwerks DW440 (brushless)
- Protec 11928 (brushless)
- Fuelab 49614 (brushless)
- Ti Automotive BKS1001 (brushless)
Don’t worry about the little details; sock filters are included in this kit (20-0860) for these pumps, and you'll also receive sock filters from the fuel pump manufacturer.
How the FHST Works
The FHST is a smart addition to your vehicle. It independently supplies fuel to the port injectors while keeping the direct injection system untouched, thanks to the OEM fuel pump. This means you can push your engine's power potential without any hiccups.
One of the standout features of the FHST is its surge tank functionality, which keeps a reserve of fuel around the aftermarket fuel pump. This helps prevent any fuel starvation when you need it most.
When you install the FHST, it drops right into the left-hand opening of the fuel tank, opposite the OEM fuel pump on the right-hand side. This design ensures that everything remains intact with the OEM fuel system, including all fuel level sensors. Fuel continues to flow to your engine via the OEM pump, filter, and regulator, while the FHST has its own separate pump outlet and return inlet. This makes it perfect for independent port injection or custom fuel setups.
Fuel Sources for the FHST
The FHST canister gets its fuel from three main sources:
- The left-hand OEM venturi jet pump fills the FHST canister first, with any overflow going into the OEM pump basket, just like the factory setup. This OEM jet pump has been flow tested at Radium Engineering to deliver a maximum of 302LPH.
- The returning fuel from the aftermarket fuel pressure regulator (included in kits 20-0867-03 and 20-0867-05) enters the FHST canister through a diverter to minimize aeration and fuel foaming.
- Three one-way fill valves at the bottom of the surge tank allow for a total flow of 1,065LPH, ensuring that fuel can enter but not escape.
Electrical Features
The FHST is equipped with custom-designed stainless electrical studs that can handle high current demands, something that compact multi-pin bulkhead connectors often struggle with. These connections are hermetically sealed and resistant to all types of fuels, ensuring reliability.

Important Notes
- Keep in mind that early and late fuel tanks differ slightly. For the later GEN2 R8 (Type-4S) and Huracan models, the FHST sits just above the OEM jet pump and fuel level sensor. We recommend keeping at least a half tank for track use in these cars.
- For the GEN1 R8 Type-42 and Gallardo, this is not necessary. The FHST is positioned at the very bottom of the factory tank, allowing it to draw all the fuel through its valves.
- Non-conductive anodized aluminum acorn nuts are included to prevent accidental short-circuiting. Electrical hardware is provided for both the fuel pump and the OEM level sensors. The in-tank wiring is insulated with high-quality, chemically resistant ETFE.
