If you're looking to upgrade your Ferrari 458 Italia's braking performance, the Girodisc system is a solid choice. It's designed as a direct swap for the stock discs, but there's a catch: you’ll need to use a different brake pad. Specifically, you'll want a pad with a swept area of 66mm or less. This is key to keeping the rotor weight manageable. Trust me, if we made a rotor with the same dimensions as the OEM CCM rotors, it would be way too heavy for practical use.

Now, about those pads. The good news is that the shape you need is pretty common. You can find it on some heavy-hitters like the Nissan GT-R, Cadillac CTS-V, and most AMG Mercedes models that come with 6-piston calipers. If you have a specific pad compound in mind, just reach out to us, and we’ll help you find the right part numbers.

One of the standout features of the Girodisc rotor is its central hat section, crafted from top-notch 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum sourced right here in the U.S. The rotor itself is made from Girodisc’s proprietary cast iron, also poured and machined in-house in the USA. This isn’t just any rotor; it features a curved vane design that’s been developed through racing experience. This design acts like a centrifugal pump, pushing cooling air through the disc to keep things nice and cool under pressure.

Another great aspect is the floating mount system. It’s got either 8 or 10 high-strength alloy steel drive pins, all made to Girodisc’s specs and cadmium plated for long-lasting corrosion resistance. These pins handle the load during braking while allowing for some axial and radial float between the hat and disc. Plus, we’ve secured them with grade 12 cap screws and hardened washers. To keep things quiet when the rotors are cold, we’ve added anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side. This setup lets the rotor expand with heat without the annoying rattle that can come with floating rotors. And that float? It helps the rotor self-center between the pads, which is a nice touch.

Once you’ve got the Girodisc system installed, replacing the cast iron rotor when it wears out is a breeze. Just swap it out, and you’re good to go.

Oh, and just a heads-up: these are sold by the pair, so keep that in mind when you're making your purchase.
