Girodisc A1-046 2-Piece Front Rotors for Porsche 964 Turbo | Carrera RS

The Girodisc A1-046 system serves as a direct replacement for the original equipment (OE) rotors on the Porsche 964 Turbo and Carrera RS models. This upgrade requires no modifications; the rotors bolt directly to the factory calipers, ensuring seamless integration and preserving the vehicle's braking bias along with ABS functionality.

Construction and Design

The rotor features a central hat made from U.S.-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum, providing both strength and weight savings. The disc itself is crafted from Girodisc's proprietary cast iron, which is poured and machined entirely in-house in the USA. This meticulous manufacturing process ensures high-quality performance and durability.

Utilizing a curved vane design, these rotors are engineered to function as a centrifugal pump, effectively channeling cooling air through the disc to enhance heat dissipation during high-performance driving situations.

Floating Mount System

The A1-046 employs a floating mount system that features 10 high-strength alloy steel drive pins, designed and manufactured by Girodisc in the USA. These pins are cadmium plated for corrosion resistance and are crucial for maintaining axial and radial float between the rotor and hat. This design allows the rotor to self-center between the brake pads, improving contact and reducing noise.

Each pin is secured with class 12.9 cap screws and hardened washers, ensuring reliability under braking loads. To mitigate noise during cold operation, the pins are equipped with anti-noise spring washers, allowing for thermal expansion while eliminating rattling sounds commonly associated with floating rotors.

Purchaser acknowledges the Product is for off-road racing use only. The nature of off road racing involves significant risk, and the conditions under which the Product is used and types of use of the Product are many depending on factors such as installation and use. Due to the inherent risk of the activity in which the Product is used, the Purchaser understands and agrees the Seller provides a limited warranty for the Product, specifically, the warranty is limited to the following specification: less than .0015” runout and less than .0003”disc thickness variation.

If Purchaser provides Seller with written notice of any condition inconsistent with the specification set forth above on or before six (6) months from the date of delivery and complies with the return requirements set forth in Section 6, then Seller will, at its election either:
  • Provide a replacement Product, or
  • Refund the purchase price.
This limited warranty does not cover, and Seller will not pay for, or provide, labor or materials that which may be necessary to remove a Product or install a replacement Product. This warranty is limited to the exchange of the Product or return of the purchase price.
