Each rod is proudly manufactured in the USA using oversized proprietary steel forgings. This process ensures proper grain flow and guarantees the removal of any surface inclusions. The Unique Carrilloy Steel

We utilize a special steel for our connecting rods called Carrilloy. This unique alloy, made from chrome, nickel, moly, and vanadium, meets all VAR (vacuum arc re-melt ASTM standards). Carrilloy is a refined version of existing SAE specifications, with tighter controls on the acceptable attributes during manufacturing. Our heat treatment is validated by both the supplier and an independent metallurgist to ensure the steel meets the desired physical and chemical properties.

The fastener system in a high-performance connecting rod is crucial. That’s why it’s essential to install the fasteners according to our instructions and use the recommended lubricant. With nearly fifty years of experience, CP-Carrillo has established itself as a leader in fastener technology within the connecting rod industry. Our designs are based on known yield loads, ensuring that during linear stretch, the load never reaches its limit.

While torque figures are commonly used for tightening fasteners, we prefer the "stretch" method. Why? Because torque can be influenced by many variables, like lubrication, thread condition, and dimensional integrity, which can affect the preload you’re aiming for. Using the stretch method minimizes those variables, leading to a more consistent and reliable preload.
