CP-Carrillo Engine Connecting Rods
Welcome to CP-Carrillo, your go-to destination for premium engine connecting rods! Crafting a CP-Carrillo connecting rod is not just about cutting a forging and hitting production targets; it’s a true collaborative effort. Our talented team of specialists works hand-in-hand to create each rod, making it a masterpiece of precision. From material experts and forging specialists to design engineers and engine aficionados, everyone plays a crucial role in the artistry behind our rods.
Precision Engineering
At CP-Carrillo, our engineers are always on the lookout for ways to refine our connecting rod designs, striving for that ever-elusive perfection in performance. Each rod is proudly made in the USA using oversized proprietary steel forgings, ensuring optimal grain flow and the removal of any surface inclusions. Whether you're pushing the limits on the racetrack or cruising on the street, our rods are built to be consistent and reliable from start to finish.
Introducing Carrilloy
We use a unique steel alloy called Carrilloy, which is a blend of chrome, nickel, moly, and vanadium. This special formulation meets all VAR (vacuum arc re-melt ASTM standards), ensuring top-notch quality. Carrilloy is simply a refined version of an existing SAE specification, with enhanced properties validated by our suppliers and independent metallurgists to guarantee the ideal physical and chemical characteristics.
The Importance of Fasteners
When it comes to high-performance connecting rods, the fastener system is arguably the most critical component. Proper installation following our guidelines and using the recommended lubrication is key to achieving optimal performance. With nearly fifty years of experience, CP-Carrillo has become a trusted name in fasteners within the connecting rod industry. Our designs are based on known yield loads, ensuring that during linear stretch, these loads are never reached. We recommend a stretch value of 80% of the yield load, as indicated in our tension-torque diagram.
While torque is a common method for tightening fasteners, we prefer the stretch method. This approach minimizes the impact of various factors—like lubrication, thread condition, and dimensional integrity—that can affect preload. Our findings show that using high-quality fasteners with the stretch method yields the best consistency and results in proper preload every time.
